TODAYAbout Our Preschool & Pre-k
Respectful and responsible caregiving in a preschool classroom looks like choices; no matter how big or small. This can look like a child being given a warning that they will need to wash their hands for a snack; going to the bathroom now or setting a timer for a few minutes; or allowing them multiple opportunities for rest throughout the day. For us it’s important that our preschoolers have autonomy over their decisions. If they are not posing an immediate safety concern, we follow their lead and help them navigate the next safest choice! We know the transition to kindergarten is a big leap and are here to help support.
Social-emotional learning and establishing strong teacher-student relationships are at the forefront of our preschool program. We follow High Scope Curriculum, an industry standard for the past 50 years in Early Childhood Education. Day-to-day holds space for a multitude of activities; a constant in Green Garden preschool is love, patience and kindness.

Kindergarten Readiness
Preschool can be tricky with rest time. We understand that some students might have sleep regressions and nap time can fluctuate. Our preschoolers are given multiple opportunities for rest throughout the day, as well as a window of time after lunch. Days at school can feel long for our oldest kiddos and we ensure they get the social, physical and mental breaks they need.
Child-led Play
During mealtimes, preschoolers are not only excited to eat but also excited to share! Often times students catch up with classmates about the
toddler teachers will enjoy family style meals with children. Adults will assist in children serving themselves foods of their choice from our organic menu options using child-size serving dishes and utensils. Family style meal times encourage children to try new foods and meets every toddler’s need for independence.
Respectful and Responsive Caregiving
At Large Group Time, you may hear stories and songs as well as see shared sets of materials such as dancing scarves or fallen leaves collected during a nature walk. Social interaction enhances the speed and accuracy of learning at all ages throughout life. Our goal is to create a sense of community within our growing school family through shared active learning experiences.
Independence
Green Garden preschoolers spend lots of time outside! There’s gardens to be picked from and at some campuses chickens to be cared for. Being the big-kids on campus has its advantages since they are able to help support the care of our gardens and explore areas of our playgrounds our younger students are not able to yet.
