Mud Day at Green Garden

A morning where kids can get as muddy as they want — digging, splashing, building, and exploring.
If you’ve ever watched a child find a puddle, you already know why Mud Day exists. Kids are naturally curious about the world — they want to dig, mix, pour, squish, and see what happens. Mud Day at Green Garden simply gives them permission to do exactly that. For one morning, our outdoor classrooms turn into a place where getting messy is the whole point. Children build in mud kitchens, splash at water tables, search for buried treasures, and follow their own ideas alongside other curious kids. What might look like simple play is actually rich learning. When children experiment with mud and water, they’re solving problems, testing ideas, working together, and building confidence in their own thinking. Mud Day at Green Garden is one of our favorite community traditions because it reminds us of something simple: childhood doesn’t need to be complicated to be meaningful. Sometimes the best learning happens with muddy hands, a little sunshine, and the freedom to explore.
